Armenian-Indian Cooperation Protocol in the Field of Science

On April 1, the Protocol on Scientific and Technological Cooperation was signed between the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of India and the State Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia. From the Armenian side, the Protocol was signed by the Chairman of the RA MES State Committee of Science, Samvel Haroutiunian, and from the Indian side, by the Adviser for International Cooperation of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of India, S. K. Varshney.

The protocol aims at strengthening the cooperative ties, established by the agreement on cooperation in the spheres of science and technology between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of India on March 25, 1994, in New Delhi. It will contribute to the deepening of collaboration between the parties, foster the strengthening of the existing friendly relations between the two nations, as well as enhance cooperative relations between the scientific institutions, universities and research groups of the two states.

According to the protocol, the Parties shall encourage the implementation of joint projects of common interest and coordinate the bilateral funding of joint research projects of particular mutual interest, which include the spheres of Earthquake and related Disaster Mitigation, Astrophysics, Nuclear Medicine, High Energy Physics and Pharmacology.
